A friend had told me about Coronado, which is located across a the San Diego bridge from downtown.  So, when thinking about a relaxing stopover on the way home from New York, I thought we would give Coronado a go.

Coronado is located about 3 hours’ drive south of LAX. On the day we arrived there was a big convention in San Diego and it took a little longer than usual to get there.   We stayed at Loews Coronado which is about 7kms from the main township of Coronado and situated between Silver Strand State beach on the Pacific Ocean side and San Diego bay on the other side.

Coronado village is very pleasant and had the beach feel. The Hotel del Coronado situated in the village is a stunning building. Unfortunately we did not get to experience it this time.

Well worth a look if you are intending to visit San Diego.
