Last year while traveling up the PCH ( Pacific Coast Highway) in California, we stopped for a night at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa. What a wonderful location !The hotel was situated within walking distance of  the sights of Monterey and the view from the front of the hotel was fantastic. Monterey is definitely worth a visit but I suggest that you stay for a few days to explore all the sights.
