I decided to stop over in Dubai for 2 nights on my way to Europe and stay at the Atlantis, The Palm which was a very big complex. There is an aquarium within and a lovely pool to relax by during the day- even a water park next door. It was a very impressive complex with all the extras anyone would want.

As with many cities, I visit for the first time, I took the hop on, hop off bus to get a feel for the city. I stopped to go up the Burj Khalifa which is just something everyone who visits Dubai should do.

However the highlight of my visit was the Arabian Adventures evening desert safari. We drove for about an hour to the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve then drove through the sand dunes at pace in a 4 wheel drive Land Cruiser, stopped to see the sunset before heading to the bedouin style camp for dinner. There was belly dancing and camel riding along with a few other activities.

Was such a memorable evening and something I would recommend to all who visit Dubai.
